In 2024, Diwali the first one after inauguration of Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, there was the eighth Deepotsav celebration, two world records were established along the banks of the Saryu River in Ayodhya. These records, recognized by Guinness World Records, were for the largest number of individuals performing aarti at the same time and for lighting the highest number of diyas simultaneously. The events took place at 55 ghats, including the notable Ram Ki Paidi, where over 2.5 million earthen diyas were illuminated concurrently, and 1,121 vedacharyas (teachers of religious texts) conducted aarti together. The counting of the diyas was facilitated by drones.

Patel stated, "The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, Ayodhya District Administration, and Saryu Aarti Committee are the official title holders of the Guinness World Record for the largest number of individuals, 1,121, performing aarti simultaneously. Congratulations to all involved."
Regarding the second record, the Guinness jury remarked, "With a total of 2,512,585 diyas lit, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, Ayodhya District Administration, and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University are the new Guinness World Record holders for the most diyas lit at once." UP government in the budget this year presented a mega Ayodhya development plan that include setting up of a 1,200-acre new “model future city” based on Vedic city planning principles.
The Ayodhya redevelopment initiative, aligned with the Master Plan 2031, is set to be finalized within a decade, involving an investment exceeding Rs 85,000 crore. This effort aims to enhance the sacred city to accommodate an anticipated daily influx of approximately 300,000 visitors following the inauguration of the Ram Temple next month. The strategy encompasses the establishment of a distinct new township, covering an area of 1,200 acres, which is projected to be developed over the next five years with an investment close to Rs 2,200 crore.
The plan is to rejuvenate the Ayodhya and develop it as a holy city for Hindus as the Vatican is for Catholics. “Planning principles, urban forms, buildings and landscape should follow Vedic Ramayana and Vedic architecture,”.
Delhi-based CP Kukreja Architects, Canada-based Lea Associates and L&T – are selected to chalk out a master blueprint for Ayodhya. These companies will make blueprint of town planning, transport, traffic, infrastructure, finance, economy, heritage, tourism, urban design, renewable resources, public places and events, riverfront development of Saryu River and water sports and three developing Parikrama Margs (51,484 kosi) with adequate facilities.
“The aim of this exercise is to prepare a Neighbourhood plan/ detailed spatial plan for developing a greenfield integrated township of 1,200 acres, as part of proposed development of new Ayodhya, to develop as a model future city taking into account the best international practices for development, implementation, maintenance and management,” as seen on one of the tender documents.
