Dawn of a New Era in Astronomy - James Webb Space Telescope.

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

  • NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope reveals emerging stellar nurseries and individual stars in the Carina Nebula that were previously obscured.

  • Images of “Cosmic Cliffs” showcase Webb’s cameras’ capabilities to peer through cosmic dust, shedding new light on how stars form.

  • Objects in the earliest, rapid phases of star formation are difficult to capture, but Webb’s extreme sensitivity, spatial resolution, and imaging capability can chronicle these elusive events.

NASA's Webb Space Telescope has shown the dawn of a new era in astronomy.

It is a collaboration of the National Aeronautics & Space Administration ( NASA), European Space Agency (ESA), and Canadian Space Agency (CSA).

Their joint mission of space science or astronomy brought some new features and attributes about space through the Webb telescope.

The importance of this image is " Webb’s First Deep Field is galaxy cluster SMACS 0723, and it is teeming with thousands of galaxies – including the faintest objects ever observed in the infrared".

Aljazeera shared that on 12th July collected image is "a cloud of dust and rays of light surrounding a dying star known as the Southern Ring Nebula, located approximately 2,500 light-years from Earth." Some more interesting pictures were also taken by the Webb telescope.

Scientists are no more limited to the planet earth. They are on the way to winning over the space too. Being in the space race China also planned to launch its "quest for the heavens" by July 23, 2022, from Hainan.

"spacepolicyonline.com" shared these will be the second and third modules of the China Space Station.

While discussing the investment of capital, time, and energy in space technology, weforum.com shares that the benefits of space research will be manifold.

Those include:

  1. Climate

  2. Energy issues

  3. Peace and security

  4. Facilitating an efficient global communication system

  5. Space tourism industry

Out of the space exploration two issues will be evident and needs to be taken care of :

  • Reuse & recycle spaceships and other remnants - If people will gather used and unused things while experimenting in space, like the earth that is going to be heaps of junk. Thankfully SpaceX already started the concept of reusable spaceships. Other matters need to be sorted out.

  • Space ownership - there is no territorial boundary in space, which country owns what region. Thus, an international discussion and agreement are necessary to meet such challenges in the future.

The latest pictures taken by Webb Telescope have opened up the 'Dawn of a new era in Astronomy'. In coming times space science is going to unveil a wide range of astronomical facts.
